Who we are
Unleashed Worldwide is a Delaware company that provides a teacher-first adaptive learning platform for schools, districts, teachers, students, and families in the United States.
You can contact us about privacy, security, copyright, or account questions at support@unleashedlms.com.
Information we collect
We collect information needed to provide, secure, support, and improve Unleashed.
- Account and authentication information, such as name, email address, role, school or district affiliation, and sign-in records.
- Teacher and institution information, such as classrooms, rosters, workspace settings, billing plan selections, and institution plan inquiries.
- Uploaded curriculum and source materials, including PDF or DOCX files, extracted text, source-document metadata, teacher review decisions, and publication records.
- Student learning information, including assigned work, responses, mastery signals, confidence, pacing, support preferences, support-efficacy signals, and progress records.
- IEP setup uploads when a student chooses that setup path, limited to verifying that the document appears to be an IEP and extracting supported adaptation signals.
- Usage, device, log, security, and product analytics information needed to operate the service and understand reliability and adoption.
How we use information
- Provide adaptive learning pathways, teacher review workflows, classroom dashboards, and school or district oversight.
- Use text extracted from educator-provided materials as input to AI generation of drafts, lesson variants, supports, and mastery checks for educator review.
- Record mastery, retention, transfer, and support-efficacy signals so authorized educators can guide instruction.
- Authenticate users, protect accounts, prevent misuse, debug issues, and maintain audit trails.
- Respond to support requests, institution inquiries, legal requests, and safety or security incidents.
- Improve the service, including through privacy-protective analytics and internal model development where permitted by law and applicable school or district agreements.
Student privacy and children under 13
Unleashed is built for K-12 use, including students under 13. Where laws such as COPPA or FERPA apply, we rely on schools, districts, teachers, or other authorized institution representatives to provide consent or authorization when they are legally permitted to do so.
Student education records are used only for educational purposes authorized by the school, district, parent, eligible student, or other authorized user. We do not create hidden diagnoses, infer disability categories, or use learner data to make legal, medical, or psychological determinations.
IEP setup uploads
If a student uploads an IEP during setup, Unleashed uses the file only to verify that it appears to be an IEP and to map explicit accommodations or support needs to supported adaptation signals.
After text extraction succeeds, the original uploaded IEP file is deleted from provider storage. We retain only the extracted adaptation signals, brief paraphrased reasons, processing status, and audit records needed to provide and explain the setup result. If processing or cleanup fails, the original file may be retained temporarily so we can retry processing or complete cleanup.
AI and model training
We do not sell personal information. We do not use uploaded curriculum, student work, learner model data, or IEP content to train third-party AI models.
We may send text extracted from uploaded educator materials to AI providers to generate drafts, lesson variants, supports, and mastery checks. Educators review generated results before publishing when review is required. When provider controls are available, we configure them so submitted content is not stored for provider training. We may develop internal AI models using appropriately governed, de-identified, aggregated, or institution-authorized data, subject to law and applicable agreements.
How we share information
We share information only as needed to provide Unleashed, comply with law, protect the service, or honor school, district, parent, eligible student, or account requests.
- With schools, districts, teachers, administrators, students, and family users according to their roles and permissions.
- With service providers that process information for us, including WorkOS for authentication, UploadThing for private file upload handling, PostHog for configured product analytics, OpenAI for selected AI analysis, Neon or database hosting providers for data storage, and hosting infrastructure providers.
- With legal, safety, or security authorities when required by law or needed to protect users, schools, Unleashed, or the public.
- With a successor if Unleashed is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections for student information.
Analytics and cookies
We use limited cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and product analytics. PostHog analytics are configured without browser autocapture, session replay, page-leave capture, dead-click capture, performance capture, surveys, or web experiments. Sensitive learner analytics are disabled or routed internally unless an institution-authorized configuration permits another destination.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while needed to provide Unleashed, support educational records controlled by schools or districts, support educator uploads, preserve publication records and auditability, comply with law, resolve disputes, maintain security, enforce agreements, or meet contract requirements.
On a verified eligible request, we delete, return, or de-identify information unless we need to retain it for legal, security, billing, backup, audit, or school-controlled educational-record reasons. Backup copies are deleted on normal rotation unless preservation is required.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we design Unleashed for school and district trust requirements.
Your choices and rights
Parents, eligible students, teachers, schools, and districts may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict information. Because many student records are controlled by a school or district, we may direct requests to the appropriate institution or require institution authorization before acting.
To make a request, contact support@unleashedlms.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority before fulfilling the request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Unleashed changes. If changes materially affect privacy practices, we will provide notice appropriate to the change, such as through the service, email, or institution communication.
